(WXYZ) — The City of Flat Rock has closed Huroc Park until further notice amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
According to the Flat Rock Police Department, the decision came after complaints and concerns from citizens over the spread of the cirus.
The main entrance to the island and park is a narrow bridge, and "citizens would find themselves unknowing placing themselves within the governor’s recommended 6 ft social distancing range; thus, placing themselves and others, in possible danger of spreading the COVID-19 virus."
There have also been groups of people gathering inside the park.
Those who enter the park, or parking lot, will be subject to a misdemeanor citation and a fine of up to $500 and up to 90 days in jail.
